Intero Health was founded on a simple but powerful belief: the best healthcare consulting comes from people who have actually done the work. Not academics who study healthcare systems, and not generalist management consultants who apply generic frameworks — but practicing physicians who have led departments, built programs, shaped policy, and sat in the rooms where consequential decisions get made.
Our mission is to help hospitals, health systems, and healthcare organizations perform at their full potential — across leadership, strategy, clinical operations, and program design.
We chose this name deliberately. Healthcare organizations are complex, integrated systems — and the most persistent problems they face rarely have simple, siloed solutions. Our approach treats every engagement as a whole-system challenge: understanding how leadership, clinical operations, culture, and strategy interact before recommending any course of action.
We have held the roles we advise on. That changes the conversation — with a department chair, a Surgeon-in-Chief, or a hospital CEO. It enables trust, speeds diagnosis, and produces recommendations that are actually implementable.
We don't optimize a single metric at the expense of adjacent ones. Improving OR efficiency without considering physician wellness leads to short-term gains and long-term attrition. We look at the whole.
Physician backgrounds mean deeply ingrained respect for evidence. We bring that rigor to consulting: grounding recommendations in data, outcomes research, and proven frameworks — not conventional wisdom or untested frameworks.
We tell clients what we actually think. If a proposed strategy has a significant weakness, we say so — respectfully, with evidence, and with alternatives. The most valuable advisors are the ones who can say the hard thing.
Strategic plans that sit in binders don't improve outcomes. We stay engaged through implementation, not just ideation — helping teams navigate the real-world complexity of change in healthcare environments.
The partnership between a surgical executive and a pediatric wellness physician isn't coincidental — it reflects the integrated nature of healthcare systems, where strategy and clinical excellence must reinforce each other.
Our clients are typically senior healthcare leaders facing decisions that have significant organizational, financial, and clinical consequences. They are not looking for generic advice — they need a trusted partner who understands the complexity of their environment.
We work best with leaders who want a direct, substantive engagement — not a months-long process that produces a thick report and disappears.
Every engagement begins with a direct conversation. Tell us what you're facing — we'll tell you honestly whether and how we can help.
